On June 5 the 10th Tallinn Treff Festival ended with 4792 people visiting the various visual theatre performances. The organizers have decided that it was the last Treff. Next year, a festival with new format and name will be happening.
Treff saw 25 performances from 20 companies all around the world, including several Estonian theatres. In addition, four club nights, three Artist Talks and a film screening happened during the four days. Over 700 people experienced the opening show Ave Fenix in front of the Parliament House.
The visiting artists enjoyed a cosy and firsthand festival with lots of opportunities to meet and talk. This does not happen too often. Inspiring meetings and good emotions peaked at the last evening club where a spontaneous concert was given by musician and puppeteer Santiago Moreno from Argentina, singer and actress Yael Rasooly from Israel and guitarist Omar Torrez from USA along with Estonian musicians Reigo Ahven, Mihkel Mälgand and Tanel Ruben.
Vahur Keller, the artistic director said that Treff has gotten better each year. “I can’t wish for any better festival than the one just ended,” said Keller. “That’s why we are not going to continue with Treff anymore. We will have a new festival, though,” explained Keller.
“In 2017 we will have a visual theatre festival with a new name, format and time. The festival will become a biennal,” adds Keller. More information about the festival will be revealed in 2017.
Tallinn Treff Festival happened thanks to many partners and collaboraters. Around 60 people worked for Treff, including volunteers. Treff and NUKU theatre would like to thank Estonian Endowment Fund, Estonian Culture Ministry, Estonian Parliament, Spanish Embassy, French Institute, Ramon Llull Institute, Embassy of Israel, Performing Arts Fund NL, Canada Council of Arts, Von Krahl Theatre, Vene Theatre, Vaba Lava, Kultuurikatel, Hopner House, Kanuti Gildi SAAL, Tallinn Historical Hotels, Go Hotel and My City Hotel for their help.

Along the years the festival has has special programs (school and student theatre program Noor Vaim, UNIMA program), focusing on different topics (baby theatre in 2008) and including grand street theatre performances and side festivals in other Estonian towns. Treff has always had a program of visual and puppet theatre shows for all ages.
