The program of the Baltic Visual Theatre Showcase is available on the website and the schedule will be available soon. The program includes 4 visual theatre productions from Latvia, 4 from Lithuania and 5 from Estonia. The festival takes place from 27th to 29th of May, 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia.
In co-operation with Vilnius puppet theatre Lele and the Latvian centre of ASSITEJ, the international union of theatres for children and young people, the Estonian Theatre for Young Audiences will organize the joint Baltic visual theatre showcase with a goal to introduce Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian visual theatre to the organizers of international festivals, and thereby open a door for Baltic theatre makers to international visual theatre stages. The festival brings together productions mainly of theatres with a puppetry background, but the programme also includes so-called verbal theatre makers’ exciting experiments on the visual theatre scene.
“We want to thank everyone who has supported the planning of the festival – the Baltic Culture Fund, the Ministry of Culture, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, the organisations supporting culture, such as Tallink and Synlab,” said Leino Rei, the festival director. “Many thanks to everyone who has contributed their time and effort! Let's keep our fingers crossed that the corona-virus will be gone by May, and we can enjoy high artistic level of the productions, available to every theatre lover in Tallinn.”
The Baltic Visual Theatre Showcase was supposed to take place for the first time in May last year, but due to the corona-virus it was postponed and will take place on 27-29 May, 2022.
