See Ya, Simon is a production based on David Hill’s novel of the same name, telling the story of a teenage boy Simon who is full of pranks and a lust for life, despite the strict boundaries set on his life. Simon suffers from a disease that causes his muscles to become weaker, and he can only move around in a wheelchair. In spite of this, he lives the life of a normal teenager: he goes to a regular school, skips doing homework, plays with his friends, dreams about girls and growing old. He does not deny that his time is limited, but he refuses pitiful glances and sympathy: “I don’t want your pity, I want your world.”
The production centres around a young person with special needs and his friends, who are faced too early with the inevitability of life ending. The story teaches us to value ordinary and seemingly simple things like riding a bike, running, growing old and much more that Simon cannot take for granted. See Ya, Simon is a story about friendship and a lust for life.
